INFORMATION for PROSPECTIVE PARTICIPANTS

  • Those wishing to participate should fill in and return the registration form, not later than 31st March, 2007. Due to limitations of numbers we may not be able to accept all registrations. Decisions about registrations, talks and requests for financial support will be made by April 15th.

  • Participants should aim to arrive by 4th July, since the meeting will start in the morning on the 5th. The meeting will continue until the middle or end of the afternoon of 8th July. The conference dinner will take place on Saturday, the 7th July.

  • From countries other than Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, there are almost no international direct flights to Faro Airport. Participants from abroad may fly to Lisbon and catch a domestic connecting flight (30 minutes) or take a train (3 hours) to Faro.

  • Due to the limitations of the budget it is unlikely that financial support will be available except for the invited speakers and some students.

HOTEL INFORMATION
The booking and payment of hotel rooms are entirely handled by the Portuguese travel agency Abreu and the organizing committee takes no responsibility for either the reservations or the services of the hotels or the respective payments. Click here to electronically book a hotel room. On Thursday 5th and Friday 6th participants have to use regular buses or taxis to travel from their hotels to the university campus (called Campus de Gambelas). On Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th we have organized a free shuttle service which will pick up participants from their hotels in Faro in the morning and take them to the university, and the same shuttle will bring them back in the late afternoon.

TRANSPORT FROM THE AIRPORT TO FARO:
Some of the hotels have shuttles to pick up their guests from the airport. These shuttles and the costs involved are mentioned on the hotel page managed by the travel agency Abreu. Other than that there are two ways to get to Faro from the airport: taxi or bus. A taxi should cost approximately 10 euros and take about 10 minutes. The bus is cheaper, but might take a little longer and won’t drop you off in front of your hotel.
