Real and Functional Analysis

Research in the Department of Mathematics (DM) in the area of Real and Functional Analysis includes topics in Operators Theory and Operators Algebras, in particular: Toeplitz type operators and operators with shifts; Riemann-Hilbert problems; Spectral theory; Representation theory for operator algebras; Group action on C* algebras; Index theory.

The members of the scientific area of Real Analysis and Functional Analysis of DM collaborate with the members of other scientific areas of DM, particular with in the area of Algebra and Topology and, maintain strictly scientific collaboration with HAOTA from University of Algarve and with CIDMA from University of Aveiro.

The majority of the members of the scientific area of Real Analysis and Functional Analysis of DM are integrated in the Center of Functional Analysis and Applications; there are some members that are not integrated in any research unit and one that belongs to the Center for Mathematical Analysis, Geometry, and Dynamical Systems.
